Dr. Joshua Heinecke, a Wisconsin native, grew up locally in Sheboygan. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology with an emphasis in cell biology and physiology. While attending UW-Whitewater, Dr. Heinecke spent a semester of study abroad at the University of Queenslandin Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Following undergraduate studies, Dr. Heinecke went on to complete his doctorate of optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He is fully licensed in the state of Wisconsinand registered with the national and state boards.
After completing his education, Dr Heinecke returned to Wisconsin to begin his optometric career, bringing his passion for full scope eye care to our patients at Primary EyeCare Associates. Beyond offering exemplary routine eye care, Dr. Heinecke specializes in diagnosis and management of ocular disease, cataract/LASIK co-management and contact lens fittings. He also wants patients to know that glasses can be fit for special applications, either for vocation or avocation, including computer, shooting, woodworking and other hobbies.
“The best part of my job is seeing the variety of patients that I do - from young children to the elderly grown-up kids,” he says.
Dr. Heinecke, his wife Brenda, and their black labrador retriever Rowley claim Wisconsinas their proud home and embrace all four seasons. They enjoy outdoors with bicycling, motorcycling, boating, snowmobiling, hunting ... and the list goes on. The Heinecke's can often be found in the Wisconsin northwoods doing one or more of the above-mentioned activities.
Professionally, Dr. Heinecke is active with the Wisconsin Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association and is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. He looks forward to meeting new and existing patients at Primary EyeCare Associates!
