Many people equate the need for an eye examination with replacing their eyeglasses. While it is certainly important to see well, undesirable changes in your eyes can occur, which in their early stages, do not adversely affect vision. Unlike the rest of your body, your eyes rarely hurt when there is something wrong. Do not rely on changes in your vision or broken glasses to remind you of your next appointment. Follow the advice of experts, and have your eyes examined on a regular basis.
Your appointment at Primary EyeCare Associates includes a comprehensive vision and eye health examination. Computerized examination instruments are used to supplement rather than replace personalized care.
Evaluations for eye health disorders are also performed, including tests for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and retinal detachment. We will monitor for the ocular effects of many general health disorders such as diabetes and high blood pressure, as well as effects of medications. A dilated pupil examination allows us to provide the best assessment of eye health. It is recommended for all new patients and on a scheduled basis
Many eye and general diseases (such as brain tumors, vascular problems, glaucoma, optic nerve diseases, and macular degeneration) require further, more advanced testing to aid in diagnosis and management. We use state-of-the-art instruments such as digital cameras, computerized visual field testing, and Optical Coherence Tomography to screen for and diagnose these diseases.
